Goldeyes fall 9-4 to Fielders
A four-run first inning didn’t mean a whole heck of a lot Saturday night. The Winnipeg Goldeyes watched the Lake County Fielders score nine unanswered runs, as the Fish fell 9-4 to the Fielders in Zion, Ill. The loss ends the Goldeyes three-game winning streak. Jason Mackintosh will be on the mound for Winnipeg Sunday afternoon, as the Goldeyes hope to finish the four-game series against the Fielders with their third win of the weekend.

Eskimos Fire Danny Maciacia
Danny Maciocia paid the price for Edmonton's rough start to the CFL season on Saturday, as the Eskimos relieved him of his duties as general manager and director of football operations.   Maciocia was given the news just a day after the Eskimos picked up their first win of the season with a 28-25 victory over the B.C. Lions.

Goldeyes take two from Lake County
The Winnipeg Goldeyes won both games of  a doubleheader against Lake County Friday night In the night - cap... The Goldeyes (33-32) scored five times in the first inning,  and beat the  Fielders  6-3. Justin Justice hit a three-run home run to highlight the five runs Winnipeg put on the scoreboard in the first inning. In the opening game..    Juan Diaz hit a three-run home run to lift  Winnipeg  past Lake County 5-1 Winnipeg has now won three games in a row, and have climbed back above .500 for the first time since July 10. The two wins, combined with the Kansas City T-Bones losing 7-6 to Rockford, means the Goldeyes are seven games out of first place. The Goldeyes and Fielders will meet for the third game of this four-game series Saturday night at 6 p.m.

WINNIPEG'S RALPH KRUEGER JOINS OILERS
General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have appointed Ralph Krueger Associate Coach with the hockey club. Krueger, 50, brings with him a wealth of experience as a coach in Germany and Switzerland and will complement Head Coach Tom Renney and assistants Kelly Buchberger and Steve Smith. “Ralph possesses a vast array of hockey knowledge and certainly will be invaluable to our team,” said Tambellini. “We know that his motivational skills and positive outlook will be instrumental in the future success of our hockey club. Krueger was most recently the Head Coach of the Swiss National Team. During his tenure from 1997-2010, he advanced the Swiss National Team Program from 15th to 7th in the IIHF World Rankings. He guided the team to a 6th place finish at the Olympics in 2006 and 4th in the World Championship in 1998 and 5th in 2010. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has participated in 12 World Championships and three Olympics. Prior to joining the Swiss National Team, Krueger was the General Manager and Head Coach of VEU Feldkirch in the Austrian 1st Division from 1991-1998.
