Police still seeking prisoner released in error...
Winnipeg court officials admit 'paperwork' error
CJOB News Team reporting
7/31/2010

Winnipeg courts officials say 'paperwork errors' are to blame for the accidental release of two inmates from the Headingley Correctional Centre on Tuesday.

One of those men, 20-year-old Brian Moran (pictured above) is still loose, and considered violent. He was in Headingley pending processing on a shooting with intent charge dating from 2008. He's now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

Moran's release was not made public until two days after his accidental release. He is the sixth inmate released in error this year. There were six similar incidents last year. Winnipeg courts are working to identify sytemic flaws in the system to account for the accidental releases.

Moran is described as male, Aboriginal in appearance, 6' 4", 270 lbs., black hair, brown eyes, with several tattoos on both hands and his neck.

Police warn Moran should not be approached by the public. If seen, you are asked to contact local RCMP or Winnipeg Police at 986-6222.
